The Zaryadye Moscow Concert Hall is situated in the same-named park in Moscow. This one-of-a-kind project is known as one of the best concert venues on the planet.

Diller Scofidio + Renfro (DS+R) from New York designed the Zaryadye Park project. Under the supervision of Vladimir Plotkin, chief architect of TPO “Reserve,” and Sergey Kuznetsov, chief architect of Moscow, the concert hall was completely designed by Russian specialists. Yasuhisa Toyota, a world-class acoustician, was in charge of the acoustics. Valery Gergiev, a Russian conductor, also made an appearance.

On Moscow City Day in 2018, the hall was officially opened. The Moscow City Council awarded the hall the “Best Architectural and Urban Planning Approach for a Public Object” award in 2016. It was nominated for the World Architecture Festival Award in 2019.

External architectural solutions were largely influenced by the concert hall’s location: it had to be constructed on a man-made hill in the park, blend in with the landscape, and become an organic part of it.

The hall appears to be surrounded by a hill, which is topped by a transparent glass “bark” with solar panels, as suggested by the DS+R Bureau during the competition stage in 2013. Under the “bark,” a natural microclimate was produced by planting trees and herbaceous plants. A pedestrian zone and a 1500-seat amphitheatre are part of the complex.
