The home is a tropical version of Philip Johnson’s classic “Glass House.” In essence, the design was modular, consisting of individual cubes with wide, floor-to-ceiling glazed surfaces that were linked by bridges that formed open-air passageways, allowing constant interaction with the environment.This strategy was also used as a sustainable aspect because it reduces the amount of air conditioning necessary and allows it to function in a modular manner, using energy only where it is needed.The project is a luxurious holiday home that can also be rented out when the owner is not present. In comparison to many other examples inside the resort, the residence uses less resources while maintaining comfort and finishes.

The award-winning style combines a palette of green-gray and light grey stucco wall surfaces with dark grey volcanic stone plaster highlights; large, glazed surfaces with curtain walls with a special green tone structure inspired by the colours of the jungle around it; and accents on exposed steel surfaces painted in light orange, inspired by the colours of the flowers of several native plants.

From the beginning, Archicad was used to model Casa Magayon; the entire 2D documentation process was created from the “live” Archicad model, with no content drawn in 2D. MEP was also used during the process to model the air conditioning and storm drains to ensure that no accidents occurred.

With the aid of the Cadimage Cabinets tool, all of the built-in furniture was designed entirely in Archicad. BIMx was used as an important communication tool with the client during the construction phases and on site, and teamwork was integrated in the development process.

By preventing errors in the construction process, BIM software has had a strategic effect on the business, resulting in substantial construction cost savings. Archicad has been used to design roughly 65-70 projects at the agency. Other software that complements its work, such as Artlantis Render for photo-realistic rendering and Twinmotion for motion graphics, is also supported.
