Summer of 1999, his father bought intel PC for accounting. The supplier installed couple of free software including 3D Home. He started his graduation in Architecture next year and saw iMac at the institute.
He was fortunate to get exposed to technology and software by his professor who always believed the balance between art in technology in Architecture. He learnt a famous 2D CAD software during 2002 but soon realised it is nothing more than Drafting Board on PC. During one of his visits home, he saw his father using Tally for accounting instead of Excel, and he realised, though Excel can do accounting, Tally can do more justice to accounting, it is appropriate.
He felt there must be some software for Architecture as well, which gives more justice to buildings than just drafting them on PC. His research took him through, learning couple of software but none of them could do what he was looking for, something that Tally can do for accounting. Something that can automate repetitive mundane tasks.
Summer of 2003, he got a call from the computer training institute where he learnt 2D CAD & other software. They said “there is a new software that we are teaching which can give you Plan, Elevation, Section & 3D in one file and when you change something in one view all other gets updated”. The first thing he did the next day was to enrol for the training for ArchiCAD. He realised the potential of the software and felt - this is my tool. He started using ArchiCAD for all his submission after that.
Three years later in 2006, after his graduation the first job he did was with a firm providing BIM Services, the marketing term ‘BIM’ was quite new but the technical meaning was Virtual Building, the concept on which ArchiCAD worked since 1984. It was easier for him to absorbed in an otherwise difficult position because of his knowledge of ArchiCAD and BIM (Virtual Building). His first extra (apart from producing BIM data for building) was to train team of 15 Architects and Draftsman on ArchiCAD for an upcoming project.
2008, and he decided to start his own practice. March same year he started DIMENSION PLUS, as Architectural Service provider firm, remember the use of ArchiCAD was constant. Same year he got an offer to start ArchiCAD authorised Training Centre in Ahmedabad, he evaluated and accepted the same. That made DIMENSION PLUS a firm working on Architecture Physical Virtual.
During 2010, DIMENSION PLUS got an offer to be resellers and promote ArchiCAD to Architects and Interior Designers. That year marked our entry to Software Sales vertical. Since it was about selling ArchiCAD and not any dumb drafting board imitating software, DIMENSION PLUS considered it as Solution Selling and focused more on developing support services and mechanism for all the existing and new users. All the internal meetings of DIMENSION PLUS starts with a slogan “Remember: we have end users and not customers”.
Ar. Shivang Rajvir went to CEPT during 2013 for his Post Graduate Diploma in Construction Technology and Management were he focused his core interest on using BIM for Construction Management.
May 2016, Shivang successfully completed BIM Manager training held at GRAPHISOFT Head Quarter, Budapest, Hungary and got a Certified BIM Manager Status.
Summer of 2016, DIMENSION PLUS got the chance to work directly with GRAPHISOFT SE, as Value Added Partner eliminating box pushing ‘distributors’ from the channel. This means toady DIMENSION PLUS is the live bi-directional link between all the End Users who use ARCHICAD and GRAPHISOFT SE who makes ARCHICAD. This makes DIMENSION PLUS an organisation promoting the technology after using it for years.
Thats the story of Ar. Shivang Rajvir from DIMENSION PLUS
Today his focus is on bringing appropriate and user friendly technology for AEC professionals and implementing them at the End User location. He never believes in selling, his motto is Implementing.
